Set monitor as primary

A buddy of mine asked for help with setting one of his two monitors as primary.

To my surprise, I wasn't able to find much except for this:

 

Any ideas are welcome

I searched the forum, googled this topic in regards of autoit, command line, powershell etc, scoured stackoverflow. And found absolutely nothing.

If I did, I would post it here.

I didn't come for a solution, I came for a nudge in the right direction.

did you run that code he posted in the thread?

post your search string at least to let us see what you found

i think AHK has some posted scripts, but different language. most folks asking for that use AHK I think. you could always convert it.

try searching google using this search string, I find plenty of stuff there.

your best bet is to try and manipulate the windows ui using uiautomation.

I doubt you did. You probably found a bunch of WIN + P stuff, or WIN + SHIFT + Arrowkey or the thread I linked above or . But that's about it...

If you're confident you found the answer, I'll be here, ready to admit I was wrong.

 

Btw, the only other thing I found was this, but since it's pretty old and I'm far from an expert in registry edits, I'm hesitant to try.

you should set up a dev vm where you can muck about with the registry all you want, then, revert it to a snapshot, vmware player is free and can do snap-shotting.

you came here looking for a solution. don't lie about it. you did nothing other than search and have tried nothing, and apparently can't manipulate a simple registry, and being a d yourself, get mad if we ask what you did? get lost.

Maybe a combinations of _WinAPI_EnumDisplayDevices() and ChangeDisplaySettings() could be helpful somehow?
