Dealing with WINDOWS windows...

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of starting a new project, in wich I pretend to automate some actions on windows itself, like changing the computer's name, for example, activiting the windows, logging in some Office product, so then I can generate the product key and so on...

I've been reading the documentation and got a lot of clues that confused me. So I need some advices... Wich functions, keywords and commands that I might use for this project?

@Fernandin

More than dealing with the applications through which you can rename the Computer's name, activate Windows and so on, you could easily use commands from the Command Prompt to do such things.

For example, to rename a computer's name, you can use a command like this.

AutoIt side, if you choose to use commands, all you need is Run() and/or RunAs() functions.

For the other commands, just search them :)

Well, I know that the command Run() is very useful for executable aplications, but how can I use it to open a system window like the one printed below?? In the case of this project, it isn't viable to use the cmd to change the computer's name,  because it's necessary to take the computer's name, and its name is too long and with terrible random caracteres. Is there parameters at the Run() command that makes possible to access such windows?

You'll need to use other functions than Run, Run is used to start it, not manipulate it.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I hereby grant any person the right to use any code I post, that I am the original author of, on the autoitscript.com forums, unless I've specifically stated otherwise in the code or the thread post. If you do use my code all I ask, as a courtesy, is to make note of where you got it from.

Well, I can already run to the "Propriedades do Sistema" window, and now I'm facing problems to simulate a click on the "Alterar..." bottom...

I've used the ControlClick command, and I tried all of these lines and none of them worked? Can someone tell me why?

;/////////GOES TO THE PROPIEDADES DO SISTEMA WINDOW/////////
Send("{LWIN}")
WinWait("[CLASS:Windows.UI.Core.CoreWindow]")
Send("Executar")
Send("{Enter}")
WinWait("Executar")
Sleep(2000)
Send("{DELETE}")
Send("sysdm.cpl")
Send("{Enter}")
Sleep(5000)
Send("{TAB}")
;/////////GOES TO THE PROPIEDADES DO SISTEMA WINDOW/////////

;////////USING CONTROLCLICK//////////
;ControlClick("[CLASS:Button; INSTANCE:2]","&Alterar...",115, "left")
;ControlClick("[CLASS:#32770]","&Alterar...",115, "left")
;ControlClick("Propriedades do Sistema","&Alterar...",115, "left")
;ControlClick("Propriedades do Sistema", "", "[CLASS:Button; TEXT:&Alterar...; INSTANCE:2]")
;ControlClick("Propriedades do Sistema","","[ID:115]")
