Window Blocker

3 posts in this topic

Hi guys,

I'm not sure if this has been addressed in one of the various pop-up killers built with AutoIT but I've had a look and it always seems to kill the window rather than block it.

Is there a way tha you can block a window from ever appearing? I have a window that keeps popping up and annoying me, I tried using the WinKill function in a loop but it wasnt fast enough to catch the window before it disrupted my work. I was wondering if there was anyway to specify in a script not to allow a window from appearing??

Cheers

Mark

Nice idea, but it would require something similar to you beeing able to keep

me from thinking on for example the word "pinnekjøtt"....mmmmm.

With popup-blockers for internet browser the case is different, as I guess they

do some kind "source-censoring"...

Anyway, check out Opt (AutoItSetOption) in the docs, and there will be at least

something you can do about the long delay... WinWaitDelay or something.

If I understand this correctly, you want to go from reaction to prevention. I guess to do this your code would need to intercept and take over the processing of all browser calls. I haven't given this alot of thought so I could be way off base, however, you may be able to prevent windows popping-up by creating a sort of local proxy for your browser to use. Would be an interesting project.
