(Windows XP) How can you easily make the Status dialog box for an active network or dial-up connection appear?

Manual methods:

1) Double-click (or right-click, Status) on the tray icon if you have it showing.

2) Start > Settings > Network Connections > yourParticularConnection

3) Create a shortcut to the connection, then Start > Run C:\MyConnection.LNK

For some reason, the shortcut cannot be run from the command prompt! :D I've tried alll variations on cmd start ... that I can think of. Is there a special network handler registry key I should know about?

It depends. Do you need to read that particular window, or are you just interested in some way of determining if your PC is dialed up or not? The former is more difficult than the latter, but I've done both.
