Disk Space checking

I have searched the FAQs and the posts but cannot for the life of me determine if you can check the amount of free disk space before an install begins.

I have created the script to install three applications, which total 1.2gb in size, so I would dearly like to verify the amount of hard drive space before installing that much data.

Is this possible?

DOH! I searched for things like check drive space but nothing as obvious as DriveSpaceFree. Thanks sooo much.
