How to tell script to do something when computer beeps

3 posts in this topic

G'day everyone

When I send a keyboard shortcut to a program and that keyboard shorcut doesn't have any function in that program, the program beeps at me. This is the program's way of saying "error", I think. Anyway, I'd like a certain script of mine (in which I send keyboard shortcuts to the program) to loop and loop and loop until the program starts beeping, and then exit. The way I'm sending the keyboard shortcut is using the normal "Send" method, which means that the usual sort of error is not returned to the script, because the Send action doesn't actually fail (it just fails to get the human-desired reaction).

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Samuel

Any ideas?

build an external device that listens for a beep and then send a command via TCP over the network. Edit your script to listen for command via TCP.

Cheers

Kurt
