I'm using autoit beta v3.2.1.2.

From Help file.

The following hotkeys cannot be set:

any combos of two or more "base keys" such as '{F1}{F2}'

So +{INS} won't work!

Cheers

Kurt

From Help File.

Quick reference for the Send ( "keys" [, flag] ) Command. ^ Ctrl ! Alt + Shift # Win

+ = {shift}

Shift is not a base key! It should work.

Yep, you're right, it works...

HotKeySet("+{INS}","ins")

while 1
    Sleep(500)
WEnd

Func ins()
    msgbox(0,"","Hotkey seen")
EndFunc

Cheers
