non editable address book

I am trying to write a gui which is basically a non editable address book. This means I do not want someone to be able to copy and paste all of the address like if they were kept in an ini or text file. I can't figure out which command to use to do this. Can someone help me out?

well you can use guictrlsetstate and do $GUI_DISABLE and when you do write them to a file you can use one of the multiple stringencryption UDF's in the scripts and scraps or check out the _StringEncrypt in the helpfile

You'll either have to hard code the information into the script or find another way to store the information, maybe encrypted, to keep it from being readable.

The names are currently in an excel file. would there be an easy way to get them from that file into a script?

Hi Alternatively have it "FileInstall" the ini or Text file everytime you open your program, overwritting the previous file.

Valery have written a very nice one but he is on the "AutoIt List" forum

Or assign the entire book with a variable. Then use a distinguishable character to split up each entry, for example Name,Address,Phone|Name,Address,Phone. With a simple StringSplit, you can easily split it up into 2 seperate, and then do another stringsplit and get each seperated into their own array.

Would there be a limit to how many names i can add to the list? I have 42 now and if i add more it tells me "unterminated string in file"

How many things do you have, example, name, address,and all that stuff? it should work that you add | to split an entry and , to split up name , adress and all that stuff

I can add 42, and then if i try to add one more it gives me that error. Also weird is if it add test,test,test,test,test,test,test,test,test,test,test,test to the end it doesn't even list it.

Yes, it works but that is the same code I have. The problem is what happens after you go over 42 records you get the unterminated string error. Try this and you'll see

Maximum string length is 2147483647 characters (but keep in mind that no line in an AutoIt script can exceed 4095 characters.)

so u got to cut down on the character amount in them
