Windows Update Force Install

3 posts in this topic

There is a really cool .vbs that Daryl Maunder made that will force a download of all critical updates from Windows update and install them to a computer. It works pretty good... but it has it's kinks. I am not very good with vb code so I was wondering if anyone here might want to try to translate it into autoit?

It would be awsome.

I have tried to use the vb to au3 tools found on the forums here with no luck. :)

This is not exactly what you're looking for, but it is written with AutoIt. What it does is downloads ALL the updates (right up to the most current) and will make an ISO for you (2 actually, one for Win2k, and one for XP). You then burn the CD Image(s) to a CDR, bring it to any PC that needs updates and install them without an internet connection. It's great for patching vulnerable PC's right after they've been cleaned.

Hope that helps!

That's a pretty good script. :) But I am looking for something that will download only the needed updates for a computer. So I can implement it into a tool I use for remote maintenance. Does anyone know of a way I can force a download of only the needed updates to a location? Then I can write a script to install all of them unattendedly.

Thanks.
