I accidently stumbled upon AutoIt via Google.

Just curious - why AutoIt when there is WSH on W2K/XP or PowerShell on Vista?

Any comments appreciated.

AutoIt is not only script language.

You can make also GUI applications, work with COM, there are lots of functions for easy manage another applications or set/get data from it (for example ListView/TreeView) and so on ...

Even before all of the GUI and COM features, I seem to recall that the intro (perhaps the V2 intro) used to mention that Jon wrote it to "fill in the gaps" of other scripting tools that he was already using.
