Idea: _WinDeploy UDF

1 post in this topic

I (as well as a number of other people here) use AutoIT to deploy workstations in an enterprise environment. I've written a couple of scripts that deal with joining to domains and baseloading systems.

While I am no expert in all the various things that can and cannot be configured in Windows, a UDF that contained a collaborated collection of functions would be helpful to those of us that need to create deployment tools.

Things like:

+ Enable/Disable Updates

+ " / " Firewall

+ " / " Print balloons

+ " / " Clear last user logon

+ " / " Internet access / proxies

+ Switching to classic view

+ Adding printers

+ Mapping drives

+ etc.

I know that most of this is pretty standard stuff but it's knowing about it that's key. While I know of some of these, I don't know them all (i doubt if anyone knows them all). A UDF would give people that are deploying systems a collection of options that they could use without having to know how to envoke it (short of reading the code).

Any ideas on this. Perhaps one already exists?

TIA.
