How to stop focus changing to reactived app.

3 posts in this topic

I have an on-screen keyboard for a touch screen. For most things it works ok.

When a key is not pressed the active window is noted provided it is not the keypad itself.

When a key is pressed the last active window is reactivated, and the key is sent.

It doesn't work for some situations. For example, if I want to rename a folder, then I click on the folder name to edit it, but when I press a key on the keypad the edit windows closes as soon as focus is taken away from it.

Similary with the task bar; I can bring it up but can't select anything with the keypad.

I can't see how to solve this unless I can prevent the focus transferring to my keypad.

I assume that a message is sent to set the focus, so can I intercept that and hijack it somehow?

Can anyone suggest how I can do that or how I should approach the problem?

Yes, that's what I'm trying to replace because the keys are a bit small for reliable use on a touch screen.

But how do they do it?
