ViewList limitations?

When I load a large playlist into the ViewList it is slow and seems to stop displaying at 4000 items although the loop continues on.

After a little looking around I see the limit is 4000 and is quite slow when dealing with large numbers, is this correct?

I found this as a way to get around the 4000 limit and speed up the ViewList, but it pages (which I can live with) but is there a scrolling version around?
