System Beep

9 posts in this topic

Hi everyone,

This is my first post on the AutoIt forums and I have a very basic question, hopefully with a quick and easy answer.

Is there any way to disable the annoying system beep that is heard when a computer doesn't have proper audio drivers?

I am running some scripts on a virtual network with VMWare and every time a MsgBox pops up, my system beeps at me.

It is getting really annoying really quickly, and I cant seem to get my audio drivers to function properly inside VMWare.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

~Felanor

snap the pins and transistors that hold the motherboard speaker in place.

Not quite the answer I was hoping for...

I was hoping there would be a way in autoit to have a consistently running program that halted all system beeps.

If thats not possible, I will just have to find another way.

Thanks,

~Felanor

Get Ring 3 access and you might be able to do it.

i wouldnt be so sure, maybe using objects to change the Control Panel/sounds and audio devices/sounds/critical stop if thats the sound or with command line ... but a script its not necessary, just go there and change the sound you dislike

Hi Gif

Thanks for the thought.

Unfortunately, that only works if the drivers are setup properly. I, on the otherhand, an having issues with the system beep that is produced even if you dont have audio drivers installed.

I will keep looking into it though.

Thanks again,
