Question about ComboBox and ComboLBox

I have a combobox that when you display the dropdown, the dropdown is a ComboLBox. I looked through the forum at other posts about ComboLBox but couldn't find a good solution. I know the string I want to select but I can't select it via the handle to the ComboBox and I can't get the handle to the ComboLBox (no parent ... not really attached to the ComboBox). I can scroll up and down through the dropdown but since I can't see what is the current selection I can't tell if I have the right text selected. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
