Incognito Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 (edited) These pages are spidered by search engines, do you guys seriously think you've helped yourself by posting here? No, that's not the point of posting here. The point of posting here is making it known that what they're doing is wrong. Besides, the only way this would pop up in a search engine search is if you typed in Gevalum- which means you already know it's there- kinda nullifies the point of advertising, doesn't it?I would think you would have thought it through a bit being "Administrators" of a site, of what consequences you posting here might have. Not really, considering it's a public forum. I'm posting in reply to what he said. It makes no sense that you're calling this advertising, it's like you're searching for a reason to get us in trouble. Your claim doesn't make any sense. In that case, he shouldn't be putting 'gevalum' in the script, because it pops up here. I couldn't fathom the time it would take for the moderators/admin/devs to police these forums, not just for AutoIt user violations, but for other product EULA infractions.About five minutes. There's a search bar.As I can appreciate your clans dedication to your product,Clan? What? I have no clue what you're talking about here. It's my game.Maybe you should take this as a wake up call... and make your product much harder to automate, than a script kiddie being able to come to an interpreted language could handle. We did. That's why a lot of people are having issues scripting in the first place; doesn't stop them from attempting to break the EULA.Your other Admin had already asked for our Admin in a PM to me (Which I provided), do you guys not communicate?Sorry, him being 6 time zones away causes some seperation. My apologies.Obviously you guys are smart enough to figure out how to personal message someone, if your concern is to "remind" them, why post in the open forum and not a personal mesage?Because, the point of posting publicly is to make sure that other people searching for Gevalum here sees that it's being watched. That's the reason this is a public forum- so everyone can see messages. And, I posted here to make sure that anybody else searching for Gevalum scripts is reminded it's illegal. Again, it seems like you're SEARCHING for a way to get us in trouble. It doesn't make ANY sense WHATSOEVER to try and call this an advertising attempt. Macroing is bad publicity; anything that came from this wouldn't be good anyway. It's a load of rubbish.Look. I don't want to argue with you here. It's pointless. But I WILL NOT have you putting words in my mouth and trying to twist what I say. Edited November 16, 2007 by Incognito

You'll get a taste of it the next time this site is spidered by a search engine, and someone types in your product name+cheat though... Then maybe you'll understand and appreciate what I've said. Not really, considering it's a public forum.I'm getting the feeling you think this is a democracy. This forum is bought and paid for by Jon, it is open to the public, but what may be posted in it is at the sole discretion of those he has entrusted/empowered to monitor said forum.About five minutes. There's a search bar. You're pretty stuck on yourself aren't you... Do you think you're the only product out there that people go to a programming language to write cheats in? So I should tally up every silly game out there, read their EULA, keep a record of them, and if someone is in violation of them, do administrative action on them? A rather rediculous statement IMHO.Clan? What? I have no clue what you're talking about here. It's my game. The clan that keeps coming to AutoIt and expressing their opinion. Again, opinions should be posted in the Chat forum (where I put your first "Who I am, and What the rules are" post you made yourself). We did. That's why a lot of people are having issues scripting in the first place; doesn't stop them from attempting to break the EULA.Issues? The only issues they are having is that they have no clue how to program, which is why you have found their support requests. Someone with have a clue is already cheating using AutoIt or any other programming language, the reason you haven't banned them or caught them, is they know what they are doing.Sorry, him being 6 time zones away causes some separation. My apologies. No problem, the only reason I asked is because both of you have been on here all day.Macroing is bad publicity; anything that came from this wouldn't be good anyway. It's a load of rubbish.Do you forget what forum you are on? I'm taking this as an insult to AutoIt itself. I'm also taking as you have no clue what AutoIt is even capable of. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.Again, it seems like you're SEARCHING for a way to get us in trouble. It doesn't make ANY sense WHATSOEVER to try and call this an advertising attempt. Look. I don't want to argue with you here. It's pointless. But I WILL NOT have you putting words in my mouth and trying to twist what I say.In trouble? Come on now... If I had an issue with you specifically, I would have already banned you last time you started with the rant. All in all, I can appreciate you wanting to take care of your investment... Just not here.If Jon (the owner/adminstrator), the other mods, the developers, or myself feel something is innapropriate, we will do what we feel is the right action to take.BTW, I've found cheats for your game on two other sites, but I have not found one post, defending your product, by you guys on them... So my next question is, what brought you guys here? Do you have an interest in AutoIt?For the record AGAIN. I have not been arguing with you, I've merely stated my stand point on the issues at hand. Common sense plays a role in the basics of understanding AutoIt... If you're lacking in that, do us all a favor, and step away from the computer.
Incognito Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 You're pretty stuck on yourself aren't you... So I should tally up every silly game out there, read their EULA, keep a record of them, and if someone is in violation of them, do administrative action on them? A rather rediculous statement IMHO.No. I'm just saying that when I come in here to say, 'hey, that's not allowed', I'm not so sure I should be attacked for that. As you said, you are entrusted with moderating here- just as I entrust moderators in my game to take care of chat- and you're doing as you see fit. I'm just expressing that I disagree with how it's been handled thus far.Issues? The only issues they are having is that they have no clue how to program, which is why you have found their support requests. Someone with have a clue is already cheating using AutoIt or any other programming language, the reason you haven't banned them or caught them, is they know what they are doing. Not necessarily. We've got good defense against it, and better defense coming soon. It's nothing less than a programming war; right now, we've put up a pretty solid wall. I'm sure it'll be defeated, but that's why we have a nice suite of tools and human moderators.Do you forget what forum you are on? I'm taking this as an insult to AutoIt itself. I'm also taking as you have no clue what AutoIt is even capable of. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.I apologize if that came out wrong. I'm talking about macroing in my game, I guess I thought that was apparent. Macroing inside of a game that claims to be as macro-free as possible is bad publicity to the owners, because it shows that they're A. lying, or B. incompetent. I have nothing against AutoIt, and I've used it before and think it's a really great product. I'm talking about INSIDE MY GAME.And, yes, there are other places. I focus here right now because it's such a great product, it's pretty easy to use and there are good forums where people can ask for support and recieve it, usually. This is the main one, in my opinion. I will be watching others as well, I'm not singleing out AutoIt; it's just the biggest and the best, so it's the biggest threat.
Moderators SmOke_N Posted November 16, 2007 Moderators Posted November 16, 2007 No. I'm just saying that when I come in here to say, 'hey, that's not allowed', I'm not so sure I should be attacked for that. As you said, you are entrusted with moderating here- just as I entrust moderators in my game to take care of chat- and you're doing as you see fit. I'm just expressing that I disagree with how it's been handled thus far.You know, going to one thread, and posting a concern is one thing, but repeatedly doing it in every thread that has anything to do with your product (I'm speaking of the other admin today in 3 or 4 topics back to back) is nothing less than spam.If someone wants to find a cheat for your product, they are going to come across your post regardless, even if it were one post only.Just as the OP of this thread (I know) has read your other posts on the product in question. This obviously isn't going to stop them from asking or doing... But you are sure to irritate a few people (that have nothing to do with your product) that actually belong and participate in this forum helping others along the way.I won't have that. Common sense plays a role in the basics of understanding AutoIt... If you're lacking in that, do us all a favor, and step away from the computer.
Incognito Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Understandable. I'm awaiting a reply from your administrator on how to handle people who are posting about things that violate our ToS. Until then, I'll just watch the posts and refrain from any inflamatory remarks.
Valik Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Macroing inside of a game that claims to be as macro-free as possible is bad publicity to the owners, because it shows that they're A. lying, or B. incompetent.Saying it at all shows that you're C. Naive. Anybody with any sense knows it's impossible to stop cheaters. As has already been said before, it's simply a code war, the goal is to stay ahead of the cheaters so that their cheats don't work for very long. Claiming you have superiority over them is lying because unless you're really stupid, it's not true.I'm not Jon, therefore, I'm not the administrator, but I have your answer(s) for you none-the-less. Don't post in public. Your issue is with the person, not the public. Even better, don't post at all, figure out who they are and ban them from your game. Unless you have so precious few users that you're desperate to cling to any that you have, why keep those who cheat? Place bans on them. Make the bans long enough to let them know you're serious. There does not need to be any lines of communication from "our side" to "your side". You are a user on this forum, they are a user on this forum. Neither one of you are significant to us. There are privacy concerns if we start aiding people track down TOS violators. If you can demonstrate that something somebody has posted is a violation of your TOS, contact a moderator. In other words, you must police this forum for violations if you want it policed. You, as a user, state that another user is violating your intellectual property. Going around from thread to thread telling people they are or are trying to violate your TOS is spam, whether it is product spam or just regular spam is irrelevant (to me).

We are not stupid on that... and posting in public chat might discourage others to try and make scripts...by showing them they are being watched...There does not need to be any lines of communication from "our side" to "your side".Yes there does to try and take a movement to stop scripts. I am surprised that Runescape and other sites have not started to have people in forums watching. You are a user on this forum, they are a user on this forum. Neither one of you are significant to us. We are "Policing" the forums and are posting in the forums to discourage others to show we are watching... READ THE OTHER POSTS before you blab your mouth.... this has been explained in the other posts... Also, Spam happenes everywhere... and if it is ireelevant to you... shut up and leave it alone because YOU ALSO posted spam in that statement...Now I will shut up... to please all the *ANTI-SPAM!!* protesters that dont even try to read other posts before blabbing off their mouths and adding their two cents where it is not needed... The mod had this undercontrole, but people have to bring it back into an argument.Good bye Read the Rules... IF ya CHEAT you might Lose more then Gold... you might lose your Avatars Life.
