Help with a noobie

12 posts in this topic

Hey, I'm very new to autoit and don't know much about coding it. I was wondering if there was such a command to locate a name/letters/numbers, and if it located them, it would click on them/the object.

Yes. If they are names or numbers on buttons, they are easily done, you can also have autoit find names on web pages and activate them as well.

hmmm off the top of my head for and IE example. There are better ways but...

while 1
if Winactive("AutoIt Forums","") then
send("^f")
winwaitactive("Find")
send("v3 Support{enter}")
sleep(1000)
send("{esc 2}")
sleep(1000)
send("^c")
  if clipget()="v3 Support" then
  send("+{tab}{enter}")
  exitloop
  endif
endif
sleep(1000)
wend

Hmm... What if I wanted it to find a name say on... AIM, as in (when I already have AIM open) It would just find a name and click on it. I looked thru the commands and fiddled with a few but nothing worked.

I don't use AoL Instant Messenger. Might be able to use a WindowGetText() and search that string for the name. Not sure if you would click it, or if you would be better off with a key sending approach.

Someone else who uses Aim might be better.

besides it is a bit late for me to think :)

edit. dang tired and seem to misstype more often

Ok.. I think I found it. The ControlClick command but I'm not sure how to go about using this. It's ControlClick ( "title", "text", "classnameNN" [, button] [, clicks]] ) But how would I find "classnameNN"?

Something like this might work for you....

1) Create a file names "C:\AimAutoIt.html" that contains the following text

<HTML>
<BODY>
<META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh"
CONTENT=4;URL=aim:goim?screenname=mybuddy&message=buch_of_stuff_here>
</BODY>
</HTML>

2) Create an AutoIt script that contains the following:

Run("C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\AimAutoIt.html", "", @SW_MINIMIZE)
Opt("WinTitleMatchMode", 2);match any partial title text
WinWait("Instant Message");should be in title of AIM window
WinClose("C:\AimAutoIt.html - Microsoft Internet Explorer");close that IE window

You could even write an AutoIt script to generate the HTML file for you....
