Defining a set of variables with another variable, possible?

Hello first post on this forum so please bare with my lack of coding skills!

What I'm looking to do is a GUI where the user makes a choice from a menu and that choice defines a set of variables for the rest of the script.

So please come with some ideas on how to do this.
