Trying to exit Visual Pinball

Newbie here!

I am using a great pinball simulator called Visual Pinball. I am going to use it in an arcade cabinet and would like the game to close with one keystroke.

When you normally exit the game you hit {ESC}. After that an option window pops up with "Quit" or "Resume" options. I want to skip the quit/resume options and exit right out of the game.

I searched around and edited this with no luck:

Opt("TrayIconHide", 1)

vpexit()

Func vpexit()

WinWaitActive("visual pinball")

WinWaitClose("visual pinball")

WinKill("visual pinball")

vpexit()

EndFunc

Is there a way to start the game and wait for the {ESC} key to be pressed and then kill the program?

This would help me as well as many others using this program.

Thanks

Run au3_spy.exe and select the window that pops-up to see if the information you used in your program is correct.

Try this ... You may want to change the Hotkey to close the script itself

HotKeySet("{ESC}", "KillDaWabbit")
HotKeySet("{PAUSE}", "Terminate")

While 1
    Sleep(100)
WEnd

Func KillDaWabbit()
   ProcessClose("vpinball.exe")
EndFunc

Func Terminate()
   Exit
EndFunc

IT WORKED, with a little tweaking...

Thank you for your quick response.

Me and my "arcade friends" thank you very much.

Autoit is a great program and thinking about it to solve some of our other problems with setting up arcades. Check us out at http://www.arcadecontrols.com/arcade.htm

9 years? Really?

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

10 hours to avoid hitting a key in a game you probably play infrequently?

i spended week and weeks to download everyting for my database,installing,and renaming. everything works great but only this problem.

so i wanted to solve it and thats the reason that i wanted to work and now i am sitting about the whole day for this problem.

i never had to work with script and i dont wanna learn it because i never need it. so i was looking for a simple solution,thats the reason i have asked.

martijnoss,

YogiBear is quite right - please read the Forum rules (the link is also at bottom right of each page) - particularly the bit about not discussing game automation - before you post again. Thread locked. :naughty:

But welcome to the AutoIt forum - and see you soon with a legitimate question I hope. But please look at the date of the thread before posting - we take a dim view of those who regularly resurrect threads as old as this one. ;)
