Folder Icon Copying

Recommended Posts

Hi folks, is there a way to copy a folder from one location to another maintaining the custom folder icon that was in place before the copy?

At the moment Im using a basic:

DirCopy("\\fileserver\setup$\BDD Cleanup Scripts\Desktop Shortcuts\Administration","C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\Administration")

This successfully does the copy as required, it unfortunately loses the custom icon that is originally on the folder. I realise that manually setting a folders icon is not difficult, however this script is used in an unattended BDD deployment; hence manual intervention is quite useless.

Thanks for your time.

Cena.

Folders lose their attributes during a copy / move proceedure. If the desktop.ini file that was in the origional is copied with the folder then it's a matter of setting the folder attributes to ReadOnly and System

FileSetAttrib("C:\Folder\", "+RS")

Edit: BTW, I should have mentioned that the path to the icon as shown in the desktop.ini file must also be valid. It may not be if you are copying to another system.
