3.2.10 High Memory usage

I just recently recompiled a script originally written in AutoIt 3.2.4.9 with 3.2.10 without making any changes to the script. The original executable (3.2.4.9) only used about 400k of memory the one compiled with 3.2.10 is using about 10000k same exact code just different versions of AutoIt. Any ideas why the major difference in memory usage between the 2 versions?

Maybe because the methods used in the old versions are different from methods used in the new one?

Any way, if you want as to help you more effective, please provide some code that shows the memory usage differences.

It's not the code it has something to do with the 2 different versions of AutoIt. I have tried this with several different applications I wrote with AutoIt. Every thing compiled using 3.2.10 has higher memory usage than the same code compiled with 3.2.4.9 with no changes made to the code just compiled in different versions.

It's always the code - And yes, memory load can be depended on AutoIt capabilities (versions).

For example, you are using some functions that in earlier versions was designed differently, therefore the memory that loaded by them is different. Or it can be also the combination of several functions used together, or because of Unicode support, or... well, there is many reasons, all depends on the code and the diferent methods that used in those AutoIt versions.

v3.2.11.10 (beta) & v3.2.10.0 used less RAM, but a bit more Virtual Memory than v3.2.4.9 did - using a single Sleep line of code.

We cannot replicate your problem with our code and you have not provided code for us to try - so, what would you like for us to do next to try and help you?

I've noticed the same thing when compiling scripts with the newer versions of AutoIT ie. 3.2.10 and the Beta. I didn't change any source code. Memory usage shot up from 6Mb to 9Mb for the main program and the spawned processes went from 3Mb to 5Mb.

For the main program, the includes are <GUIConstants.au3,<date.au3>.

However, strangely, if the computer goes into standby or hibernate and is then resumed, the memory usage then goes down to 4Mb (previously about 1.6Mb) and the spawned processes go to 1.7Mb (previously 300-600K). Wonder what the standby / hibernate does that reduces the memory usage of the application.

I could provide code but I would have 'scrub' it to remove traces of my company's name in it.

No need. It was not hard to locate a script in the examples forum that used the two incudes that you mentioned.

Yes, I saw a slight increase using v3.2.10.0 (5.5MB) vs. v3.2.4.9 (4.8MB) but nothing on the order of 10MB.

Maybe a dev can comment, but my guess is - that is the way it is going to be as features are added.

As for hibernate freeing up memory - I'm not sure why.

I'm glad that I stay away from GUIs :-)
