GUISwitch() Problem

This is the first time I use GUISwitch(), but it doesnt seem to behave the way I expected:

AutoItSetOption("WinTitleMatchMode",2)

$r= GUISwitch("Notepad")

MsgBox("","",$r)

$res=GUICtrlRead("Edit1")

; can't read anything

As a test, I tried using it to read the text of an Edit control but i always got 0x0000000 for $r (indicating a failure to switch) and the reading failed. Is it because I have never issued GUICreate()? Notepad is running but is not the active window.

GuiSwitch() is only for use with GUIs created by your AutoIt script with GuiCreate().
