Diablo II lod - login script success detection

i want to make an automatic login script for diablo 2

now my problem is this:

- it starts d2 in window mode, enters battle.net log and logs in - as it should do

but if i want to let the script do more things it would be better to let the script know if the login was successful or not - is there any option of checking if he is in the character-selection-screen after logging in or not?
