SID to Group Name

7 posts in this topic

I figured I would get the best quality of help here... I am looking for a way to pass a Security Identifier to a function and retrieve it's friendly group name.

I need to get the "Users" group for other language OSes for some folder rights manipulation.

Lar.

I found this... thanks for your times...

dim objWMIService, colAccounts, objAccount
Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:\\.\root\cimv2")
Set colAccounts = objWMIService.ExecQuery("Select * From Win32_Group Where SID = 'S-1-5-32-545'")
For Each objAccount in colAccounts
    MsgBox objAccount.Name
...
