Custom "New file" thing in explorer

Hey guys, you know when your looking at your desktop and you rightclick then click "new" then somthing like "Autoit v3 script" and it creates a new au3 files on the desktop? I want to use this function to maybe launch an exe file instead of just making a new file. i found the key in my registy that stores all of these "create new files" things (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Discardable\PostSetup\ShellNew) but they are all in binary =(

So you reckon its possible to use this to actually run a program? Sorry for bad description but didnt really know how to word it : /
