Send Key to not active window?

Hi,

first of all, sry for my enlglish Doing hard with it ^^

My question: Is it possible to send a keypress to a window, that is not activated? The window should stay in background and for example the key "5" should be sent to it every 3 second, without activation this window. Should work with PID and hooking??

Tried it right now, but it doesn't work. I think the problem is, that the application ill send the keystrokes to isn't a "window-program". Its a game. Is it still possible?
