Brightness

Forgive me if This has been Brought up before. Anyway i have seen many scripts that's main intention is to turn the monitor black, but those can get complicated and have simple loop holes. So if one is to turn the brightness all the way down to mimic the monitor being off, it would be much more..Sustainable? (i am Russian my English is very poor i believe that is the right word)

Basically would this be possible?
