I WAS using Crimson Editor for AutoIT scripts but now I see the advantage of SciTe4AutoIT.

I especially like:

1.  the tie in with the AutoIT help file (highlight a keyword and press F1)

2.  the intellitext/autocompletion feature

3.  the 'Compile with options' feature that remembers where the compiled EXE goes

4.  the ability the launch scripts from within the editor

5.  the collapsible function/routine feature

With about 10 hours of SciTe use under my belt, I can honestly say that it needs to implement the following items;  AKA: What I miss the most from Crimson Editor.

1.  Search and replace across open files

2.  Save all

3.  Close all

4.  Increase/decrease indent

5.  Insert/Remove comment

I'll probably come up with more later but I figured I'd vent a little. :-)

1. As far as tying in the AutoIT help file in Crimson, it's easy. They explain how to incorporate external help files in their help file. I've programmed my F1 key to be AutoIt help. (I've also programmed my F2 key to be PHP help)

2. Not available in Crimson

3. You can program a key (I've programmed the F12 to compile with options and programmed the F11 to run a script) in Crimson; again, it's in their help file.

4. See #3 above.

5. Collapsible sections are not available in Crimson.

The one thing I really like about Crimson that is NOT available in SciTE is that it can open files via FTP. I can have one single editor for HTML, PHP and AutoIt. SciTE is nice, but it doesn't offer all I need.

Who lied and told you life would EVER be fair?
