Non capturing group

5 posts in this topic

I have already searched in the forum, but it stills is not clear...

My code:

#include <Array.au3>
$a = 'exp hjhjh autoit ao  rthrjktrtrjtrjhtrjtrjt  a bb bb'
$b = StringRegExp($a, 'exp(?:.*)autoit', 3)
_ArrayDisplay($b)

output = 'exp hjhjh autoit', shouldnt it be: 'expautoit' ? How to solve this?

$B = StringRegExp($a, "(?i)exp(?:.*)(autoit)", 3)

Just returns "autoit" if thats what you are looking for. There are probably better regexps to do it but I just modified your existing to get that without further study.

If you're going to use a "Non-capturing" group, then you must have a "Capturing" group as well. This would split your query into two pieces (2 elements). "(exp)(?:.*?)(autoit)", so [0] = exp and [1] = autoit, then you could concatenate the values in a loop.

Or you could use RegExpReplace() if you want a simple string return.

Global $s_str = "exp hjhjh autoit ao  rthrjktrtrjtrjhtrjtrjt  a bb bb"
Global $s_start = "exp", $s_end = "autoit"
Global $s_out = StringRegExpReplace($s_str, "(?i)(.*?)(" & $s_start & ")(.*?)(" & $s_end & ")(.*?)\z", "\2\4")
MsgBox(64, "Info", $s_out)
