However, new development will now be focused on version 3. A new version of AutoItX is also available at the v3 home page. If you are going to be using AutoIt for automating tasks on your own machine, go for the "full" installation. If you will be using AutoIt for PC rollouts and the like and you just want the basic .EXE files, get the "AutoIt Only" Zip version. Convert your scripts to standalone .exe files! AutoItDLL - A pure DLL version of AutoIt. AutoItX - ActiveX control version of AutoIt. (Self registering as part of this installation).
(N.B. This installation uses the Microsoft Windows Installer service, if you need this get it here (you will get an error message during AutoIt installation if this is the case). Users of Windows 2000 and Windows ME already have this service. Also, much software uses this already and you may already have it installed!) AutoIt uses compiled HTML (.chm) for the help files. N.B. AutoIt v1.8 is provided here for compatibility with very very old AutoIt scripts. (Download) (Non-English documentation for v1.8) Misc. DownloadsTextPad v4 is a very good (and cheap!) shareware text editor. Use Textpad in conjunction with the syntax files below to edit AutoIt scripts with syntax highlighting and online command reference. (Original clip library file courtesy of E.C.Nayak). After installing Textpad, place these two files in your "\Program Files\Textpad v4\Samples" directory and then create a custom document class from the "Preferences" menu. Note: The TextPad files are the only files that I edit myself on release of each new version of AutoIt. Any other files are supplied by users of AutoIt and may have not been updated in some time.
