First, you get +2 to karma for posting a demo script with your question! :)

Next, if you run it this way in SciTE, you see that once you put something in the input box and hit enter, it does produce a message:

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>

Global $GUI[4]
Start()
Func Start()
    $GUI[0] = GUICreate("test", 300, 70)
    $GUI[1] = GUICtrlCreateInput("", 75, 22, 150, 20)
    $GUI[2] = GUICtrlCreateLabel("Index 1:", 20, 25)
    GUISetState()
    While 1
        $GUI[3] = GUIGetMsg($GUI[0])
        Select
            Case $GUI[3] = $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
                Exit
            Case $GUI[3] = $GUI[1]
                ConsoleWrite("Input ID = " & $GUI[1] & @LF)
            Case $GUI[3] = $GUI[2]
                ConsoleWrite("Label ID = " & $GUI[2] & @LF)
        EndSelect
    WEnd
EndFunc   ;==>Start

The Windows API attached to an input box control can be used to tell you when the control gets focus, when the contents have been changed, etc. But usually, you don't want to know that stuff until the operator is done, which is why in the most basic message mode, nothing happens until they hit ENTER.

To get the rest of those events, you would use GuiRegisterMsg() to register your own handler for WM_COMMAND messages, and parse those messages for the specific events of interest (i.e. EN_CHANGE). Many examples already posted on this.

Merchants,

have you test it ?

I am sure PsaltyDS did test it as it works fine for me! :( I get the correct message when the content of the input has changed and you press "Enter", just as PsaltyDS told you.

If you want to react to a click on the input, you might like to look at this:

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>

Global $GUI[4]
Start()
Func Start()
    $GUI[0] = GUICreate("test", 300, 70)
    $GUI[1] = GUICtrlCreateInput("", 75, 22, 150, 20)
    $GUI[2] = GUICtrlCreateLabel("Index 1:", 20, 25)
    GUISetState()
    While 1
        $GUI[3] = GUIGetMsg($GUI[0])
        Select
            Case $GUI[3] = $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
                Exit
            Case $GUI[3] = $GUI[1]
                ConsoleWrite("Input ID = " & $GUI[1] & @LF)
            Case $GUI[3] = $GUI[2]
                ConsoleWrite("Label ID = " & $GUI[2] & @LF)
            Case  $GUI[3] = $GUI_EVENT_PRIMARYDOWN
                $aInfo = GUIGetCursorInfo()
                If $aInfo[4] = $GUI[1] Then ConsoleWrite("You clicked in the input" & @CRLF)
        EndSelect
    WEnd
EndFunc   ;==>Start

I hope that helps. :)

P.S. ConsoleWrite writes to the bottom pane of SciTE when you run your script from within it and is often preferred to MsgBox as it does not block the script. It does not depend on the "cop". :)
