Size of EXE huge

I created a simple script to drop some files in the windows temp then run a batch file. I used highest compression. The total size of all the files plus the au3 file is 286MB. The final EXE file is 559MB

Consists of:

DirCreate

24-FileInstall

RunWait

Wrapper settings, Compile with Options: compression highest, x86, exe, use UPX, requireAdminstrator, extra files-24 added, Run AUECheck, Run Tidy

That's it.

Why is the final file so huge?

Are you using any #includes in your script? If so, when you compile it it will add in all of the included files to your exe unless you add this line "#Obfuscator_Parameters=/om /striponly" at the top of your script. Just a thought.

My guess is that the files you are installing are that size.

As I understand it, compiles autoit scripts are the size of its text + au3 interpreter, which in no way would amount to that.

You are adding them twice in this way.

Get rid of the "#AutoIt3Wrapper_Res_File_Add=" lines as they have no purpose.

Ok, so using the command FileInstall also adds the files to the build. I thought you had to 1. add the files to the build, then 2. have a command saying where to extract them to use. This one command does both?

Yes, FileInstall does both for you. That's why the first parameter has to be a literal path, and not a variable, because it is actually used at Compile Time to find the file, and add it to the final exe.
