Setting Combobox text issue

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a situation that I must set the text of the combobox that was created with $CBS_DROPDOWN or $CBS_DROPDOWNLIST styles.

The GUICtrlSetData and _GUICtrlComboBoxEx_SetEditText does not help much.

I know that the documentaion explain that the functions above will fail, so how to overcome this issue if I have to?

Regards.

lsakizada,

Where did you find that? :)

GUICtrlSetData works fine with combos, with both $CBS_DROPDOWN and $CBS_DROPDOWNLIST: :)

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>
#include <ComboConstants.au3>

$hGUI = GUICreate("Test", 500, 500)

$hCombo_1 = GUICtrlCreateCombo("", 10, 10, 200, 20) ; Default setting = $CBS_DROPDOWN, $CBS_AUTOHSCROLL, $WS_VSCROLL

$hCombo_2 = GUICtrlCreateCombo("", 260, 10, 200, 20, BitOr($CBS_DROPDOWNLIST, $CBS_AUTOHSCROLL, $WS_VSCROLL))

$hButton = GUICtrlCreateButton("Change", 10, 100, 80, 30)

GUISetState()

GUICtrlSetData($hCombo_1, "a|b|c|d")
GUICtrlSetData($hCombo_2, "w|x|y|z")

While 1

    Switch GUIGetMsg()
        Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
            Exit
        Case $hButton
            GUICtrlSetData($hCombo_1, "|1|2|3|4")
            GUICtrlSetData($hCombo_2, "|6|7|8|9")
    EndSwitch

WEnd

Just remember to add a leading "|" to the new data or it is added to the existing data instead of replacing it. :P

Hi Melba23

You are right, its working for GuiCtrlSetData.

It was my coding mistake, I tried to set data to the wrong control (my controls handles are saved in array).

Actually, I almost got nuts here :) and thought its some kind of limitation.

Thanks and have a good one.

lsakizada,

Thanks - apart from my abysmal round of golf this morning (fortunately my opponent was very nearly as bad!) it has indeed been a really good one so far. :)
