Dec/Bin/Hex

6 posts in this topic

hi

i'm making a simple converter, but i have a little trouble getting StringRegExp to work correctly.

(on line 27/35/43) they need to check if the edit boxes contain the right information (Dec, bin or hex).

i hope somebody can help me whit this.

thanks in advance :unsure:

#include <ButtonConstants.au3>
#include <EditConstants.au3>
#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <StaticConstants.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>
#NoTrayIcon

$Form1 = GUICreate("Converter Dec/Bin/Hex", 319, 84, 495, 314)
GUISetIcon("wpfArp.ico")
$Input1 = GUICtrlCreateInput("", 56, 8, 201, 21)
$Label1 = GUICtrlCreateLabel("Decimal", 8, 8, 48, 17)
$Input2 = GUICtrlCreateInput("", 56, 32, 201, 21)
$Label2 = GUICtrlCreateLabel("Binary", 8, 32, 48, 17)
$Input3 = GUICtrlCreateInput("", 56, 56, 201, 21)
$Label3 = GUICtrlCreateLabel("HexaDec", 8, 56, 48, 17)
$Button1 = GUICtrlCreateButton("Convert!", 264, 8, 49, 65, $WS_GROUP)
GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)

While 1
    $nMsg = GUIGetMsg()
    Switch $nMsg
        Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
            Exit

        Case $Input1
            $Input1Value = GUICtrlRead($Input1)
            If StringRegExp($Input1Value, '[\d]') = 1 Then
            Else
                MsgBox(0x30,"Error","Only digits 0-9")
                GUICtrlSetData($Input1,"")
            EndIf

        Case $Input2
            $Input2Value = GUICtrlRead($Input2)
            If StringRegExp($Input2Value, '[0-1]') = 1 Then
            Else
                MsgBox(0x30,"Error","Only digits 0-1")
                GUICtrlSetData($Input2,"")
            EndIf

        Case $Input3
            $Input3Value = GUICtrlRead($Input3)
            If StringRegExp($Input3Value, '[xdigits]|[^\d') = 1 Then
            Else
                MsgBox(0x30,"Error","Only 0-F")
                GUICtrlSetData($Input2,"")
            EndIf

        Case $Button1
            MsgBox(0x0,"test","click")

    EndSwitch
WEnd

guydol,

Welcome to the AutoIt forum. :unsure:

Try these SREs: :>

Case $Input1
    $Input1Value = GUICtrlRead($Input1)
    If StringRegExp($Input1Value, '[^\d]') Then
        MsgBox(0x30,"Error","Only digits 0-9")
        GUICtrlSetData($Input1,"")
    EndIf

Case $Input2
    $Input2Value = GUICtrlRead($Input2)
    If StringRegExp($Input2Value, '[^0-1]') Then
        MsgBox(0x30,"Error","Only digits 0-1")
        GUICtrlSetData($Input2,"")
    EndIf

Case $Input3
    $Input3Value = GUICtrlRead($Input3)
    If StringRegExp($Input3Value, '(?i)[^\da-f]') Then
        MsgBox(0x30,"Error","Only 0-F")
        GUICtrlSetData($Input2,"")
    EndIf

I used the ^ operator to reverse the sense so that you do not need the inelegant Else in each If structure. I have never really got [xdigits] to work, so I went the easy route as you can see - you need the (?i) to make it case-insensitive though. :D

I hope this helps. ;)

[^[:xdigit:]] works fine.

This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available). An absolute must have in your bookmarks.
Another excellent RegExp tutorial. Don't forget downloading your copy of up-to-date pcretest.exe and pcregrep.exe here
RegExp tutorial: enough to get started
PCRE v8.33 regexp documentation latest available release and currently implemented in AutoIt beta.

SQLitespeed is another feature-rich premier SQLite manager (includes import/export). Well worth a try.

An excellent eBook covering almost every aspect of SQLite3: a must-read for anyone doing serious work.
SQL tutorial (covers "generic" SQL, but most of it applies to SQLite as well)
A work-in-progress SQLite3 tutorial. Don't miss other LxyzTHW pages!

You didn't really need to shave your hair (unless you lost it while practicing RegExps, just like one venerable MVP).
