Can't get _GUICtrlMenu_CreatePopup to errr, pop up!

5 posts in this topic

I use the following code in the WM_NOTIFY routine to call function PopupMenu

If $iCode = $BCN_DROPDOWN Then

PopupMenu($iIDFrom)

EndIf

The function doesn't display a popup menu even though the msgboxes appear fine - indicating it's calling the code - anyone know what I'm missing?

Func PopupMenu($ctrl)

Local $menu

Local Enum $idSave = 1000, $idInfo

$menu = _GUICtrlMenu_CreatePopup(17) ; no checkmarks, disappears aftermouse moves away for 10 secs

_GUICtrlMenu_InsertMenuItem($menu, 0, "Save results", $idSave)

_GUICtrlMenu_InsertMenuItem($menu, 3, "Info", $idInfo)

Switch _GUICtrlMenu_TrackPopupMenu($menu, $ctrl, -1, -1, 1, 1, 2)

Case $idSave

msgbox(0, "!!!!", " Save" & @CRLF)

Case $idInfo

msgbox(0, "!!!!!", " Info" & @CRLF)

EndSwitch

msgbox(0,"WAITING","")

_GUICtrlMenu_DestroyMenu($menu)

EndFunc

Look at the examples in the help file for the popup menu function, it's using windows messages and not guigetmsg to read the menu.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

You normally dont do any halting or GUI creating stuff in a WM_NOTIFY or any other GUI Message function.

Try to use a global switch variable which will trigger the popup function in the main loop.

Does the help file example work for you? If it does, we're going to see more of your code to figure out where the problems are.
