Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted June 4, 2012 Moderators Share Posted June 4, 2012 If this continues to give you trouble, you may want to check out something like OCS. It is open source and allows you to deploy software to machines in your environment like Altiris or SCCM. I know it is a lot easier to manage than deploying through GPO. BrewManNH
I'd put some logging into the script to see where it's failing. Is the file being copied to the local c: drive? Is the msi failing to install, or does it even run in the first place? Have the script write some information to a text file on the machine you're testing this on to see where it's failing. It may be that it's not even running the script at because the computer didn't update GP correctly. Also, look in the computer's event logs to see if there's an error message in it telling you what happened. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. XmangiaX
When I do a RSOP on the machine my only error states: Software Installation did not complete policy processing because a system restart is required for the settings to be applied. Group Policy will attempt to apply the settings the next time the computer is restarted. When I reboot I honestly dont think it runs.. It doesnt even copy the file. My script is only two lines now. FileCopy("cluster1SHAREDDeploymentGoogleChromeGoogleChromeStandaloneEnterprise.msi", "c:") ShellExecuteWait("msiexec.exe", '/i "C:GoogleChromeStandaloneEnterprise.msi" /qn') Not sure what kind of logging i would inject into the script..Ive been getting my info from RSOP and Event Viewer on machine....
