supraspecies
Hi, I'm facing a problem. FileOpen does not open my file. No error, simply nothing. Here's that particular part of the script: $var1 = RegRead("HKLM64SOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall{CAD1691A-FA24-4B95-9009-3257B8440ECC}", "InstallLocation") If @error=1 then $var1 = RegRead("HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall{CAD1691A-FA24-4B95-9009-3257B8440ECC}", "InstallLocation") EndIf FileOpen($var1 & "Troubleshooting Guide.rtf", 0) $var1 is set properly, I'm sure. I have other functions tied to it, so I know it isn't the case. RTF is in the proper directory, no file attributes are set. I'm puzzled. It doesn't open the file, and I've no idea why. I'd appreciate any help. Edited September 7, 2012 by supraspecies
BrewManNH
FileOpen doesn't "open" the file, it creates a handle that points to the file. If you want to read what's in the file, use ShellExecute or Run and Notepad. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. supraspecies
Hm, I see. I read the same thing in another thread, but I didn't understand what does "create a handle" mean. But yes, I can use ShellExecute instead, thank you.
