HotKeySet Getting Stuck

8 posts in this topic

#1 ·  Posted (edited)

Hello,

I searched this forum about this problem and found no real solution to this problem. Just bumping this post to see if anyone found a real solution or something.

I've written a keyboard mapping program and a Persian typography program that helps users to type Persian in any graphical suits (Persian is not supported in 3D graphical suits). It was downloaded 20669 times in the first month and around 5000 times every month after that.

You can see it here: http://www.parsinegar.com

When the keyboard mapping program is enabled it will type Persian system-wide and it works very well. But the damn shift gets stuck sometimes. And because this will be used as a system-wide keyboard, shift getting stuck is not an option.

Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

I don't have this kind of problem with SHIFT and HotKeySet

Maybe you can try with _isPressed?

This may be related to something else in your script other than HotKeySet: for example if you were to send {SHIFTDOWN} without releasing the key.

I've seen something similar where my script was interacting with an external application. I initially encountered the Control key getting "stuck" while using FF.au3 / mozrepl to interact with FF. Initially, I worked around the issue by waiting for the Control key to be released before making the call to FF.au3.

I ultimately ended up forcing the modifier keys to their up position using

Send("{SHIFTUP}{CTRLUP}{ALTUP}")

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Tnx for the replies. I've seen all of these methods and the best one is _SendEx but it can not be used. It's a full remapped keyboard and shift+[Key] will be used by user and when I read the _SendEx code it sends the string $ss after the Shift Alt and Ctrl keys are released. So I'm guessing there is still no solution for autoit to prevent keys getting stuck.

You misunderstand how the function works. It's not for sending the string so much as for not locking the Shift/Ctrl/Alt keys down. You send the function the keys you want it to send, with the shift key included, like you would do it for the Send command. so instead of using Send("+k") to send the Shifted K, you use SendEx("+k") in your hotkey function. So that the Send command isn't done until the Shift key is released.
