Amathian
Hi AutoIT community, I am quite new, but have been using AutoIT for years now. I have a quick question:I am trying to make a program that will essentially take information from a game, such as:UsernameScoreOther in-game informationI was wondering if it is possible to take information from a game so I can store it (iniwrite) and search for the information later (inread), if so, a direction where I could learn how to do this task. Mind you, I am trying to make a program that doesn't break the rules of a game, but rather a program to track your own skill level and people you have played against. Thanks for the help! I know this is kind of vague, I figured this problem could be easily solved.
JohnOne
you'll have to figure it out on your own. You'll know why after you re-read the forum rules. Amathian
Hi, just read the forum rules (sorry, didn't see them before), but regardless, this isn't "interacting" with the game.Launching, automation or script interaction with games or game servers, regardless of the game.I am not launching or automating anything in the game. The only plausible rule would be to interact with it,I don't believe it will be interacting with the game at all, I don't plan on changing the game in anyway, but rather take information, visible on your screen and saving it in a searchable format. I could be wrong, but I don't believe this is "interaction". This doesn't break the EULA .Interact - Act in such a way as to have an effect on another; act reciprocally:However, thanks for letting me know there are forum rules, I would have probably broke them sometime down the road. czardas
Strictly speaking I would have to agree with you Amathian. You seem to clearly understand the rules, and I'm sure you can therefore also appreciate that some code examples can be easily modified to interact with a game. This is a bit of a grey area, and the moderators are fully aware of this. It is their decision at the end of the day, whether a topic infriges the rules indirectly or otherwise. operator64 ArrayWorkshop

Moderators Melba23 Posted March 1, 2013 Moderators Share Posted March 1, 2013 Amathian,We can argue about definitions of "interaction" until the cows come home - but what you are trying to do is, in my opinion (which is the one that counts ), "interaction" with a game - your script will of necessity have to use code that interacts with the game GUI in order to access the details you require. So I am afraid that the inevitable will now happen.....but I hope to see you again soon with a legitimate question.
