Docfxit Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I can't figure out what is wrong with my logic. In this example: Dim $i = 1 $Folder = "C:\Scratch\Scratch11\" ; Test $File = "Hierarch.pm" MsgBox(4096, "test", $Folder & $File & '.' & StringFormat("%02d", $i) & '.bak') While not FileExists("$Folder & $File & '.' & StringFormat('%02d', $i) & '.bak'") MsgBox(4096, "Does Exists", $Folder & $File & '.' & StringFormat("%02d", $i) & '.bak') $i = $i + 1 WEnd FileCopy($Folder & $File, $Folder & $File & "." & StringFormat("%02d", $i) & ".bak") The first time through the file: C:\Scratch\Scratch11\Hierarch.pm.01.bak does exists The first MsgBox shows that it is correct. The Second MsgBox does pop up showing that it does exist The Second MsgBox does pop up showing C:\Scratch\Scratch11\Hierarch.pm.02.bak but it doesn't exist. Why doesn't it fall out of the While loop? Thanks, Docfxit

Moderators Melba23 Posted March 20, 2013 Moderators Posted March 20, 2013 Docfxit, Too many quotes in this line - you made the whole thing a single literal string so it would never match: While Not FileExists($Folder & $File & '.' & StringFormat('%02d', $i) & '.bak') Try now. BrewManNH Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Not to mention, you're looking to see if the file doesn't exist, and then in the msgbox saying it does exist. As long as the file doesn't exist, it's going to stay inside the loop. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise.
