Trouble with Function in If then statement

I've tested my variable many different ways and I think there's a syntax problem that I just don't know how to deal with.

How do you correctly start the _ie function in this statement?  Is there a trick.  My variables do equal each other and I've verified.

Thanks in advance!

If $prefix = $currentbranch Then _ExcelWriteCell($oExcel, $consolwgt, $row, 2)

Please post more of your code than this for quicker assistance.  What you have posted looks fine, but could be wrong depending on how the variables are populated above this line.

Thanks Unbalanced.  Everything writes fine to my file except the If Then statements where $prefix = $currentbranch.  The function works fine on it's own so I'm thinking it's syntax.

Add this in your script after one of the conditional statements and see if you get the right message box to pop up.

If $prefix = $currentbranch Then
    MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "Match", "They match")
Else
MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "No Match", "They don't match")
EndIf

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.
