obfuscatedv
Would probably push this to several computers on a network. It doesnt seem like theres a pin function after researching the help file, so is the best way to create a user defined function for something like this? Im sure there are more ways than one. Also, would it require setting a registry value? The URL/shortcut would be similar to..say..the internet explorer pin when you hit the windows button or start menu. Thanks in advance! BrewManNH
Try this script. It will pin the Calculator shortcut to the Start menu as a demonstration.Global Const $CSIDL_COMMON_PROGRAMS = 0x17 Global Const $CSIDL_PROGRAMS = 0x2 Global $objShell = ObjCreate("Shell.Application") Global $objAllUsersProgramsFolder = $objShell.NameSpace($CSIDL_COMMON_PROGRAMS) $strAllUsersProgramsPath = $objAllUsersProgramsFolder.Self.Path Global $objFolder = $objShell.Namespace($strAllUsersProgramsPath & "\Accessories") Global $objFolderItem = $objFolder.ParseName("Calculator.lnk") Global $colVerbs = $objFolderItem.Verbs For $objVerb in $colVerbs If stringReplace($objVerb.name, "&", "") = "Pin to Start Menu" Then $objVerb.DoIt NextEDIT: Hit post too soon, this code was modified from this link Edited July 12, 2013 by BrewManNH If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. obfuscatedv
Thank you. What about pinning a URL shortcut to the start menu though? Id like to pin a URL shortcut to the start menu but havent had luck scripting that out.
Solution BrewManNH Posted July 12, 2013 Solution Share Posted July 12, 2013 Create the shortcut, then pin it. You can't do it directly as far as I'm aware. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. BrewManNH
BTW, here's a tip. Once you create the shortcut and then pin it where you want it, you can delete the original shortcut and the pinned item will still work. This way you don't have to keep the original shortcut if you don't need it, it can be just a temporary one.
