How can reset my drop down list to default after an item is selected from the list.

See the example below.

"select an item"

Dog

chicken

monkey

cat

"select an item" is my default item and I want my list to reset back to "select an item"

Thanks in advance.

nyedfam,

Welcome to the AutoIt forum. :)

Here is one way to do it:

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <Constants.au3>

$sCombo_List = "|select an item|Dog|chicken|monkey|cat"
$sCombo_Def = "select an item"

$hGUI = GUICreate("Test", 500, 500)

$cCombo = GUICtrlCreateCombo("", 10, 10, 200, 20)
GUICtrlSetData($cCombo, $sCombo_List, $sCombo_Def)

GUISetState()

While 1

    Switch GUIGetMsg()
        Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
            Exit
        Case $cCombo
            $sSel = GUICtrlRead($cCombo)
            MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "Selected", $sSel)
            GUICtrlSetData($cCombo, $sCombo_List, $sCombo_Def)
    EndSwitch

WEnd
Please ask if you have any questions. :)

nyedfam,

The MsgBox is only there to show you that the selected item was correctly read before the reset - you can just delete that line. :)
