#RequireAdmin

Recommended Posts

OK. Im confused (doesnt take much). I came across a issue and when I broke it down I was able to reproduce the issue in a very basic script using both stable and the recent beta. This is running under Windows 8.1 (which I know is kinda new as far as AutoIt is concerned. Please run the below code and see if you get what you would expect as results. because for me the script just exits. Whenever I have #RequireAdmin in the header the script just exits. I require running a DOS command prompt that requires running the command prompt as Admin even though I am logged in as admin.

#AutoIt3Wrapper_Run_Debug_Mode=Y
#RequireAdmin

MsgBox(0,"","")

Call("test")

Func test()
    MsgBox(0,"test","test")
EndFunc

Exit

No. It just exits the script. I provided a sample script so you can see what I mean. Does it do the same thing for you? It seems that whenever I have #RequireAdmin is there is just exits. If I remove #RequireAdmin it runs the script but it fails because the commands I am running require you to run a command prompt as an administrator. I am logged into windows as administrator however. This is on both windows 8 and windows 8.1. damn windows security.

You're probably not going to get much of a response, because this works fine under Win7 and not a lot of people have Win8 or 8.1 so your target audience is very small.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Dang. Kinda figured as much. The more I have been playing around with #RequireAdmin the more I find it causes my very simple scripts to simply not work or exit. When I remove #RequireAdmin the script runs as expected only come commands fail because they require elevated privs in win8.x.

Anyone know of a way using native autoit to run a command that requires admin or elevated privs?

If you're using the full version of Scite4AutoIt3, then you can add this to the top of your script and see if that works.

#AutoIt3Wrapper_res_requestedExecutionLevel=    ;asInvoker, highestAvailable, requireAdministrator or None (remove the trsutInfo section).  Default is the setting from Aut2Exe (asInvoker)
