I need assistance with creating a function that does something similar to above except using a 2D array as adverse to a 1D.

The array I am creating stores number values in the first column and the second column stores some text explaining that number value to be written to a ini file for later use in the script.

arraysort kind of works in that it sorts the array but has the limitations in not ordering the numbers in numerical order as explained in the post above.

I've also tried the arraymulticolsort from the following forum post but it also did not order the numbers properly.

You need to actually make them numbers before you sort them. you can just use the Number() function.

Snips & Scripts

My Snips: graphCPUTemp ~ getENVvars
My Scripts: Short-Order Encrypter - message and file encryption V1.6.1 ~ AuPad - Notepad written entirely in AutoIt V1.9.4

natwolf,

In order to sort numerically, you need to place the values in the array as numbers - if they are inserted as strings you do not get a numeric sort as you can see in this example:

#include <Array.au3>

Local $aNumeric[20], $aString[20]

For $i = 0 to 19
    $aNumeric[$i] = 20 - $i
    $aString[$i] = String(20 - $i)
Next

_ArrayDisplay($aNumeric, "Numeric", Default, 8)
_ArrayDisplay($aString, "String", Default, 8)

_ArraySort($aNumeric)
_ArraySort($aString)

_ArrayDisplay($aNumeric, "Numeric Sorted", Default, 8)
_ArrayDisplay($aString, "String Sorted", Default, 8)
So either enter the values into the array as numbers, or force them into that format by using the Number function. :)
