5 posts in this topic

I am trying to read .exe file line by line and then write its contents into another exe

As a result the innitial file is 840kb and out file is 837kb and the exe is broken. What am I doing wrong?

#include <File.au3>

$file = FileOpen("message.exe", 16)

While 1
    $line = FileReadLine($file)
    If @error = -1 Then ExitLoop
       filewrite ("message5.exe", $line)
    ;MsgBox(0,'',$line)
WEnd
FileClose($file)

topten,

Exe files do not have "lines" so what you are trying to do will never work.  Why not just copy the file?

Thank you Melba23 for your comment. The thing is- I am trying to send a binary file via tcp . For some reason the server doesnt receive the whole file. It is receiving small amounts of information but not the whole file, that is why I am trying to read it linebyline and send linebyline to the server.

topten,

Try reading the file as binary, splitting it into smallish sections and sending them individually - perhaps with some identification bytes attached.  Then stripping the ID bytes and rejoining the sections in the right order at the far end.
