SenseEye Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Hello All, I am having some issues with the below script. I want to take a value from an input box and write it to a text file (stored in the same location named Config.txt). Results: script runs however the text file does not get populated with the result from the input. Any help would be greatly appreciated. #include <File.au3> Global $sIniFile = @ScriptDir & "\" & "Config.txt" MsgBox(1,"",$sIniFile) ;Test to see if $sIniFile is working - Comes back as expected Global $script1 = InputBox("Window Info", "Enter the name of your program identified using Auto Window Info") _FileWriteToLine($sIniFile, 1, $script1, 1)
BrewManNH Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 What error is returned by the _FileWriteToLine? If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. SenseEye Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 I'm not getting any errors on the console the script runs and finishes but does not add any info to the txt file. (I am new to this do I need to be running in a debug mode or is there a location where errors would be logged that is not set to the console window?)
Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted November 21, 2016 Moderators Posted November 21, 2016 And you made sure the file is not empty? Look in the help file for _FileWriteToLine, it must have at least as many lines as $iLine or it will fail. Try something like this: #include <File.au3> Global $sIniFile = @ScriptDir & "\" & "Config.txt" MsgBox(1,"",$sIniFile) ;Test to see if $sIniFile is working - Comes back as expected Global $script1 = InputBox("Window Info", "Enter the name of your program identified using Auto Window Info") _FileWriteToLine($sIniFile, 1, $script1, 1) If @error Then ConsoleWrite(@error & @CRLF) Then correlate the @error number with the help file. SenseEye Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 Thank you jLogan3o13 thats fixed it I was trying to an empty file (opened the Config.txt added some content and it now works
Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted November 21, 2016 Moderators Posted November 21, 2016 Do you need it to be on a specific line? If you're just looking to append to the end of an existing file, try FileWriteLine instead. SenseEye 1 "Profanity is the last vestige of the feeble mind.
