Setting the text in the combo box of an open file dialog

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have been at this for a few hours now -  I have a button inside an application that loads up an "Open" window.

I have obtained the handle for this window and its control. It is a combo box, I am trying to set the text so I can call "open" and have it open the right file specified by the text I set. Unfortunately setting the text has no affect.

Local $hWndDwnld=WinGetHandle("Open")

$hLoadTarget =  ControlGetHandle($hWndDwnld, "", "[CLASS:ComboBox; INSTANCE:2]")
MsgBox(16, "wind", $hWndDwnld) ; valid
MsgBox(16, "tgt", $hLoadTarget) ; valid

; this doesn't work
_GUICtrlComboBox_SetEditText ( $hLoadTarget,"test.bcp")

;nor does this
ControlSetText( $hWndDwnld, "", $hLoadTarget, "test.bcp")

The area where you enter the text manually in a ComboBox is an edit control, try looking for the handle of that and using it instead of the combo.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I hereby grant any person the right to use any code I post, that I am the original author of, on the autoitscript.com forums, unless I've specifically stated otherwise in the code or the thread post. If you do use my code all I ask, as a courtesy, is to make note of where you got it from.

My signature includes a function to output days on all controls in a window.  Also, make sure to 'send' at least one character, or the window will ignore the text you set (not sure why, but the send is a workaround)
