Setting focus to IE input field and sending enter - (Moved)

Hello, I'm writing an AutoIt script that will parse scanned data and depending on the data, it will perform certain actions.  Currently, I have it when it detects a "user" barcode it will switch focus to an always-open IE browser (by title) to submit that user data into a single input field. This works, if the focus is still in the input field, however, if I remove focus from the input field, I can't get the code to focus back on the element id before setting the value to be submitted. Here is the portion of the code that is not working:

Func sendProTracker($input)
    Global $ie = WinActivate("ProTracker - Internet Explorer")
    ;$proTrackerInput = _IEGetObjById($ie,"input-scan")
    ;$sInnerText = _IEPropertyGet($proTrackerInput, "innertext")
    ;_IEAction($sInnerText, "focus")
    Send($input & "{ENTER}")
EndFunc

This is the HTML input field I'm trying to access, there is div around it.

<input id="input-scan" class="scanInput form-control" type="text" placeholder="">

Moved to the appropriate forum, as the Developer General Discussion forum very clearly states:

Do not create AutoIt-related topics here, use the AutoIt General Help and Support or AutoIt Technical Discussion forums.
