Regex on array

Recommended Posts

Hey, my script:

#include <Array.au3>
#include <File.au3>
#include <MsgBoxConstants.au3>

Example()

Func Example()
    Local $aArray = 0
    If Not _FileReadToArray("C:\Users\User\Desktop\autoit\test2.txt", $aArray, 0) Then
       MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "", "There was an error reading the file. @error: " & @error)
       ConsoleWrite(@error & @crlf)
EndIf

    ;_ArrayDisplay($aArray)
    Local $aArray_RegEx = StringRegExp($aArray, '[a-z]{5,}' ,$STR_REGEXPARRAYFULLMATCH)
    _ArrayDisplay($aArray_RegEx)

 EndFunc

Regex not working, any ideas? :/

test2 is like:

random
word
world
goverment
autoit
got
chrome
chicken
access

Regex doesn't work on an Array but rather a String, so you need to loop through the array and test the one at the time.

doggy,

Welcome to the AutoIt forums.

StrinRegExp only works on strings, not whole arrays, so you will have to loop through the array and test each element.

Thanks, i've writed this:

#include <Array.au3>
#include <File.au3>
#include <MsgBoxConstants.au3>

Example()

Func Example()
    Local $aArray = 0
    If Not _FileReadToArray("C:\Users\User\Desktop\autoit\test2.txt", $aArray, 0) Then
       MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "", "There was an error reading the file. @error: " & @error)
       ConsoleWrite(@error & @crlf)
EndIf

    _ArrayDisplay($aArray)

        Local $iRows = UBound($aArray, $UBOUND_ROWS)
        ConsoleWrite($iRows & @CRLF)
    Local $i = 0
    While $i < $iRows
       Local $aArray_RegEx = StringRegExp($aArray[$i], '[a-z]{7,}' ,$STR_REGEXPARRAYFULLMATCH)
       ;MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "", "finded $i is: " & $i)
      _ArrayDisplay($aArray_RegEx)
      $i = $i + 1
   WEnd
      _ArrayDisplay($aArray_RegEx)
 EndFunc

And its working, but only print's results in loop, why code in 25 line not working?

So why split the file line by line?

Read the whole file and apply the regex on it.

Something like this:

#include <Array.au3>
#include <MsgBoxConstants.au3>

Example()

Func Example()
    Local $sText = FileRead("C:\Users\User\Desktop\autoit\test2.txt")
    If @error Then Exit MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "", "There was an error reading the file. @error: " & @error)
    Local $aWords = StringRegExp($sText, '[a-z]{7,}' ,$STR_REGEXPARRAYFULLMATCH)
    _ArrayDisplay($aWords)
 EndFunc

Your loop is probably never exiting.

You can simply that loop using For instead of While

For $i = 0 to UBound($aArray) -1
    :Do Stuff
Next
